Hofstede's 6 Dimensions
(Power distance) UAE scores are higher than japan. There is a strong notion in the Japanese education system that everybody is born equal and anyone can get ahead and become anything if he works hard enough. Japanese like to be equal in sharing power. while in UAE they don't have problem of accept the distance in power.
(Individualism) As we see both countries has a low score which means they are a collectivistic society ‘we’. Both believe there is a need to belong to a larger group. While in more collectivistic culture, people are loyal to their inner group by birth, such as their extended family and their local community. In UAE the people love to with their families, while in Japan the person move from his parent's home to new place.
(Masculinity) UAE is in the middle between masculine and feminine. On the other hand, japan gets a high score (Masculine). There is a gap between men's values and women's values. In Japan, the drive for excellence and perfection in their material production, services, and presentation in every aspect of life. It will be hard for Emirate women to get used to Japanese rules. In UAE the government encourage women to work and they want to have equal jobs with men.
(Uncertainty avoidance) UAE and JAPAN have a high score with the fact that the future can never be known. Japan is constantly threatened by natural disasters.Japanese learned to prepare themselves for any uncertain situation. In important social events, Japanese thinks of what people wear and how people should behave are prescribed in great detail because they are not comfortable with new idea and changes. because of that, we as emirates if we got there we should follow their rules.
(Long-Term Orientation) Higher score by Japan indicates sighted society than UAE.Both countries believe in fatalism. japanese follow their shinto belief. They have a strong education and that help them to have future a view.
(Indulgence) japan, with a low score of 42, is shown to have a culture of restraint. They do not put much emphasis on leisure time and control the gratification of their desires. In contrast, UAE score is more than japan.
